QueerlyKenyan was built by queer Kenyans, for queer Kenyans. A platform rooted in the belief that our stories belong to us.
QueerlyKenyan is a community platform for queer Kenyans to share stories, connect with each other, find and support queer-owned businesses, and access resources.
We were created because queer Kenyans deserve a digital home that is built with their safety, dignity, and voices at the centre — not as an afterthought.
We are not affiliated with any political party or external organisation. We are a community-led project, run by people who live these experiences.
Every decision we make begins with the question: does this keep our community safe? Privacy tools, anonymous submissions, and careful moderation are not optional — they are foundational.
You own your story. We will never use, reproduce, or share anything you submit without your explicit consent. You can request removal at any time.
We tell the truth about what we are and what we are not. We are a community platform, not a legal or medical service. We will always be clear about our scope.
The people who use this platform shape it. We are accountable to the community, not to funders, advertisers, or institutions.
QueerlyKenyan is not just for Nairobi. We are committed to representing stories from every county, every background, every way of being queer and Kenyan.
We know the context we exist in. We do not minimise the difficulties facing our community. We hold the complexity alongside the joy.
QueerlyKenyan is free to access and community-funded. If you're able to, supporting us helps keep the platform running, safe, and independent.
We collect only the information you choose to give us. We do not sell, share, or monetise user data. Anonymous submissions are processed without storing identifying information.
If you have questions about how your information is handled, or would like to request removal of any content, contact us directly. We will respond.
